The Taino Earth Prayer Lodge Society
Yukayeke Gua Taino Kebai`ku
Greetings. My name is Louis Iukibuel-Ramos. I am a Taino residing with my wife, daughter and son, in NYC. As founder of the TEPLS, I want to thank you for taking time to browse this web page. The Taino Earth Prayer Lodge Society (TEPLS) is a "Spiritual Circle" rooted in traditional and contemporary Taino spirituality. All Tainos and iukaiekes are invited to praticipate in any gathering and ceremony in the spirit of individual and communal spiritual growth.
*It is the mission of the TEPLS to offer a safe and sacred space (indoor and outdoor) for any Taino to share their love for the Creator and one another through ceremonies/rituals and communal celebrations. In addition, it is the goal of the society to "re-capture and renew our Taino way of life in the face of modern times."
Spiritual Life of the TEPLS (not meant to be understood as dogmas):
1) Advocate for the health of our mother, the sacred earth and all of creation.
2) The TEPLS is a gathering of Taino people advocating for peace in our iukaiekes or Taino communities.
3) The TEPLS encourges individuals to share their talents with the society to help foster personal and communal growth.
4) The TEPLS will advocate for the repatriation of sacred Taino objects for communal ceremonies from the various museums throughtout the world and of private collections (An invitation to donate a sacred object). It is not the goal of the society to conduct a political campaign to regain our ancestral sacred objects, but to ask those who possess the sacred objects to donate an object to the TEPLS as a gesture of good will.
5) Call forth spiritual leaders (Young and Old) within the society to help serve our people and the world community.
6) Offer monthly spiritual gatherings for those in the society to help foster individual and communal spiritual growth and hold gatherings for friends who are not Tainos so they can share in our joy and advocacy for one another and the earth mother.
7) Help those in need in the TEPLS and in our communities.
